Online Auto Bids

You can place an Auto Bid online for any of our auctions before the lot is sold. It’s completely confidential and secure. We won’t see your maximum bid, and the auction software will automatically bid up to your maximum if someone else bids against you. Just a heads up, if multiple Auto Bids are placed for the same amount, the first one will be accepted. To avoid that, we recommend placing your Auto Bid as soon as possible.

Absentee Bids

You can also leave absentee bids with us at no extra charge. If you leave an absentee bid, we’ll bid up to that amount on your behalf, aiming to get the lot at the lowest price.

Bidding after the Hammer Falls

Sometimes, bidders may place a bid after the hammer falls. The auctioneer decides whether to accept it. At Shaw’s Auction House, if a bid comes in after the hammer falls, it won’t be accepted. We honor the current bid before the hammer. Keep in mind, everyone has the same time to bid, and the auctioneer decides when to close the lot. There might be a slight delay in the online stream, so bid quickly to avoid missing out.

VAT

Please note there is VAT payable on top of the premium only unless stated otherwise making it 24% on top of the hammer price. (i.e if you buy something for £100, including VAT it will cost £124).

Online Bidding Surcharges

Please be aware there is also a surcharge for buying through EasyLive Auctions depending on which option you select.

Shipping & Delivery

In house shipping.

At Shaw’s Auction House, we’re able to provide an excellent in-house shipping service for most items in our auctions. We can post a wide range of items and ensure that the items are safely packaged. We have years of experience sending fragile and delicate items. Our parcels will normally be sent via Parcelforce or for smaller items we use Royal Mail.

Tracking

All parcels are sent with tracking both through Parcelforce and Royal Mail. Once your item has been dispatched, we will send you a shipping confirmation email along with your tracking code(s).

Shipping Charges

Our minimum charge for the shipping service is £12.50 + VAT with the price being dependant on quantity, weight and size of the parcel. We can combine postage but only when safe and appropriate to do so.

For furniture and bigger items that can’t be shipped, you can arrange for collection or arrange your own courier.
