Evening all, welcome to our first blog post. In these weekly blogs we will share updates on the week’s auctions, consignments and any other exciting things happening at Shaw’s.
Our latest sale on sunny bank holiday Sunday (5th May) saw a number of high value items sold including a Gold Sovereign Coin (hammer £310), Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Bangle (hammer £330) and a early 20th century 15ct gold pendant (hammer £210). We will have a number of unsold hallmarked and rare jewellery carry over to our next sale on the 2nd of June.
May’s sale also saw a large amount of Chinese lacquered art and Asian art sold. These items gained a lot of interest and went for a good price under the hammer. A number of other Asian items also sold in this sale.
Here at Shaw’s, we pride ourselves on regularly having well sought after pottery including Royal Doulton Character Jugs, Peggy Davis figurines, NAO Lladro figures and much more. During this auction, both a Royal Doulton Large Twin Handled Character Charles Dickens (hammer £80) and a Kevin Francis Peggy Davies figure Clarice Cliff Centenary Blue Colourway (hammer £60) sold amongst many more.
Earlier in the week we had a number of consignments, which will feature in our June 2nd auction. These include 18th century furniture, a large private collection of wine and some very unique antiques. We also have a number of beautiful tribal and African pieces that will be carried over from May’s auction. If you would like to submit any items to join these in the June auction, please do feel free to contact us about them.
June’s auction will also feature a large selection of toys. If you have any toys that you would like to submit to this auction, please contact us for a no obligation assessment.
Have a great week and we will update you again next Sunday.
Many thanks,
Callum
